About Ashley

Ashley Weech (she/her) is a nonprofit leader, educator, and coach with over a decade of experience in operations, organizational strategy, and leadership development. Most recently serving as Chief Strategy Officer at Coney Island Prep Public Charter School, Ashley helps mission-driven teams and leaders navigate growth, transition, and complex challenges—always centering equity and impact for underserved communities.

Ashley began her career in education research at MDRC before stepping into a founding Director of Operations role at Coney Island Prep. She went on to serve as Chief Operating Officer for five years, overseeing the organization’s growth from just under 1,000 students across three sites to 1,300 across four. Ashley also led the organization’s robust COVID-19 response—ensuring students were fed, families were supported, technology functioned, and schools could reopen with strong health and safety systems in place. Her career reflects a deep belief that adaptive leadership skills, paired with operational excellence, create the foundation for more just and effective institutions.

Throughout her career, Ashley has coached and mentored leaders across roles and disciplines—including school leadership, operations, student recruitment, development, and college access. She most enjoys supporting self-reflective leaders in building both the adaptive capacity and practical skills needed to thrive, resulting in increased confidence, improved outcomes, and career advancement.

A graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in Public Policy, Ashley names her identity as a white woman and grounds her work in an ongoing commitment to racial equity. She brings humility, reflection, and accountability to her practice, recognizing that inclusive, collaborative, and results-driven leadership is essential to building organizations where both people and communities can flourish.
